Wax tablets are used for writing. Mostly for temporary ends but also contracts were put on wax tables. Wax tablets are always double and tied together. When closed and sealed it could be kept for a long time. In the house of Lucius Caecilius Iucundus in Pompeii 153 of such tablets were discovered with the text still readable.
