After the lunch break it was time for the gladiators. Most of the time gladiators would fight in pairs. Romans loved to see man fighting each other with different weapons and armament. Most common were: Traeces (Tracians) small scimitar (Sica) and small round shield (parma) Murmillo(from murma , a fish) armed with gladius (short sword) and scutum (long shield) Retiarius a large net (ca 3m) and a trident Hoplomachus like murmillo, but with spear and special helmet
