This mill consisted of three parts. a foot of masonry with on top of it the meta: a conical stone made of volcanic stone. On top of that a biconical stone that fits exactly on top of the meta: the metillus. The wheat was put in the top of the "hourglass" and but turning the metillus round and round and the wheat kernels would be crushed into flour and drop on the platform.
