Diocletianus's palace (Split Croatia)
In the middle of Split, a beautiful city in Croatia, lies the palace of Diocletianus , a Roman emperor, who had it built for his retirement. In the middle ages the people used the palace a a refuge and built their homes inside. This kept the place pretty much complete and nowadays several parts are still in different uses (homes shops cafes etc) and other parts can still be viewed.
