Butrint was originaly a Greek town. C. Julius Caesar understood the strategic value of the city and had it colonized and romanized in 44 BC. After the Romans left the Byzantines,French,Venecians and irks took their turn in ruling the city. Different from the restoration of the Acropolis in Athens in Butrint the different periods of the city are still visible
