Altar for Nehalennia

The Romans respected the gods of the peoples they conquered. Nehalennia was a German or Celtic goddess, probably was she supposed to protect travelers and tradesmen. Several of these altars were found in the Netherlands near the sea. This altar was erected by a trader in fish sauce (garum)
