Abduction of Persephone by Hades

Myth in short: Hades (Dis) wanted a wife and wanted Persephone (daughter of Demeter) . He abducted her when she was picking flowers near Enna , Sicily and brought her to the underworld. Her mother started searching and neglected her divine tasks. Nothing would grow on the earth. In the end Zeus forced Hades to send the girl back. But because Persephone had eaten in the underworld she could not stay for ever and her mother would have her in spring and summer. In autumn and winter she went to Hades and everything stopped growing. A nice mythical explanation of the seasons.
